When referring to hair, porosity is how easily your hair is able to absorb and retain moisture. Hair can be high or low in porosity and some cases, medium. If you follow these simple steps, you will be well on your way to knowing your hair porosity.
- Fill a glass with room temperature water.
- Take a couple strands of hair from your brush, or pluck a couple from your head; whichever you prefer. Doing this after your hair is washed and dried is probably best to avoid interference from product build-up.
- Lay the strands on the water in the glass and wait two minutes.
- Observe whether the hair stands float or sink.
If the hair strands sink to the bottom, you have high porosity. If they sink slowly, or not at all, you have low porosity. If the strands begin to sink, but still float around, you have medium porosity. To read more about hair porosity and regime’s for different types of hair porosity visit TransitioningMovement.com
